Oasis the new Beatles?
No, first they would have to be new. They are yesterday's news. That said, I liked their music a lot, back in the 90s. They might sound similar, but take a listen to the body of work the Beatles left behind and the number of musicians they influenced. I have often thought about the Beatles career spanning, compilation Cd called "1". It features 27 Beatles hits which reached number one, in either the UK, the US or both. And the Cd "1" doesn't even scratch the surface of the greatness of the Beatles. They were so much bigger and better than just a hit song producing machine. But think about this for a minute and let weight of it sink into your brain. TWENTY SEVEN number one, hit songs! That single accomplishment alone, is staggering. They were together from 1960 to 1970. From their first release in 1962 (also a number one hit), they charted, number one hits in every year, until they broke up, in 1970. In their peak year, 1965, they had SIX number one songs. Who does that? It's mind boggling. Add to that, their huge influence on rock music and experimenting with new sounds and pushing the envelope of rock music, not to mention their many, many accomplishments as solo artists and you are talking about one hell of a band. Nobody will ever be the new Beatles
