My skin is very flakey and dry, and help to stop the peeling?

I have dry skin and my acne spot treatment is peeling my skin. I exfoliate once a week and even when I do it doesn't help to get rid of the dead skin! It's driving me nuts and I even have to resort to peeling it off with my hands. Please help me, I use Burts Bee's Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub and its SUPER gritty but does nothing.
